What to say when words fail?

What to say when words fail? The appointment yesterday did not go well. In fact, it was worse than the last appointment. Robert was not available for a clinical trial because of his different counts (red blood cell and platelet) being so low. Although treatments to fix the low counts are available, his body needs to be able to produce the deficiencies on its own before considering a trial. There are “last resort” chemos available but at this point it is the question of the quality of life. He can take another chemo, but it will cause his other counts to get even lower likely causing him to hospitalized. The ultimate question is: do we continue with chemo knowing that he will likely end up going to the hospital and not coming home; or do we choose to control his pain and spend time with his family at home? As a family we have decided that quality of life is better than making him miserable. I would be lying if I didn’t say we weren’t heart broken. However, our hope lies in Him who draws near to the broken-hearted. (Ps. 30:20-22, Ps. 34:18). To quote Robert, “if I’m not mad at God, you can’t be either!” And “either way, I win!” (Phil. 1:21). We ask for your prayers in the next coming weeks and months as we continue to walk this journey.

With our love,

Mr. and Mrs. RC3
